What are the different leadership societies?

Six different societies exist, and you can be a member of more than one. United Way sincerely thanks the more than 8,000 individuals who make a $1,000 or more commitment to our region through United Way.

Leadership Givers have a unique opportunity to get involved in our six specific societies:

Charmaine Chapman Leadership Society – Our region’s society is the premier African-American Leadership initiative in the nation with more than 800 members.

de Tocqueville Society – The de Tocqueville Society is an exclusive group for those who pledge $10,000 or more annually.

Multicultural Leadership Society – The Multicultural Leadership Society celebrates diversity! Open to all leadership givers, it creates a platform and familiarizes individuals with other key leaders in the region and prepares them for their role in serving our community.

Women’s Leadership Society – The Women’s Leadership Society is a group of dedicated women who support one another personally and professionally. With more than 2,000 members, Women’s Leadership Society provides a platform for women throughout our region.

Men’s Leadership Society – Founded in 2013, the Men’s Leadership Society provides a community for like-minded men who want to change this region for the better. In its first year, the Society raised over $20.6 million from men from across our 16-county region.

Can I join more than one society?

Absolutely! You can be recognized in as many societies as you qualify for. Rest assured your gift will only count once toward United Way’s total. If you think you aren’t being recognized in one of the societies for which you qualify, just let us know.
